Here's the Leaked "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" Trailer (Has Fincher Thanked Arentz?)

This is the shivery-good red-band international teaser trailer to Columbia Pictures’ “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” Among the many things that it has going for it are a magnificent Trent Reznor-Karen O cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” and and the coolest tagline I’ve seen in a long time: “The Feel-Bad Movie of Christmas.” That is counterprogramming taken to high art.

While this mega-budget David Fincher studio remake bears little resemblance to indie filmmaking and our posting it could generate accusations of traffic whoring (full disclosure: Yes), let’s not forget who got the Stieg Larsson party started in the US: Ed Arentz’s teeny-tiny Music Box Films, which acquired the original Swedish trilogy for distribution. Not only did it introduce Noomi Rapace to American audiences, the foreign-language “Millennium Trilogy” made $22 million in the U.S.

So, here’s the teaser trailer as well as the original trailer — and here’s hoping that the increased interest in Lisbeth Salander only means more bank for Team Arentz.
