A24 Acquires Tom Hardy Thriller 'Locke' Out of Toronto

A24 has acquired North American rights to Steven Knight’s Tom Hardy-starring thriller “Locke” out of the Toronto International Film Festival. The film had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival and had its first screenings for buyers in Toronto yesterday.

“Locked” takes place over the course of one tense car ride to tell the story of man (Hardy) struggling to save his personal and professional life. Here’s the official synopsis per A24:

Ivan Locke (Tom Hardy) has worked
hard to craft a good life for himself. Tonight that life will collapse around
him. On the eve of the biggest challenge of his career, Ivan receives a phone
call that will set in motion a series of events that will unravel his family,
job and soul. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Steven Knight and driven by an
unforgettable performance by Tom Hardy, “Locke” is a unique cinematic experience
that literally puts the audience in the passenger’s seat to watch the driver’s
life fall to pieces.

Knight previously directed the Jason Statham thriller “Redemption.” Go here for The Playlist’s review of “Locke.”
