Watch: Molly Shannon Steals the Show New 'Life After Beth' Clip

A24 has released an amusing new clip from its upcoming zom-com “Life After Beth,” co-starring Aubrey Plaza and Dane DeHaan as a teenage couple. DeHaan’s character, Zach, is left heartbroken after his girlfriend, Beth, played by Plaza, dies unexpectedly.

In the clip that can be viewed below, Zach goes to Beth’s house to confront her father, who is played by John C. Reilly. An angry Zach accuses Beth’s father of being secretive and trying to keep Beth away from him. Despite Beth’s father’s attempt to block Zach from going any further into the house, Zach dodges him and rushes to Beth’s room — where he finds a very much alive Beth trying to resist being shoved into a closet by her mother, played by Molly Shannon.

The ensuing argument possesses an Altman-like quality, generated specifically by the actors’ use of improvisation — particularly Molly Shannon.

“Life After Beth” launched exclusively on DirecTV yesterday, July 17, and will receive a limited theatrical release on August 15. The film is also slated to screen as part of the Sundance NEXT FEST, which will take place August 7-10 in Los Angeles. To see the madness unfold, watch the clip below.
