Poussey and Peggy are sharing the screen together. Samira Wiley has joined the cast of Hulu‘s “The Handmaid’s Tale,”  the series starring Elisabeth Moss of “Mad Men” and “Top of the Lake.” The news comes from the Hollywood Reporter, as does confirmation of the “Orange Is the New Black” star’s character in the forthcoming literary adaptation: Offred’s (Moss) college bestie.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” is based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel, in which a dystopian society called Gilead treats fertile women (a rarity) the way Immortan Joe of “Mad Max: Fury Road” might. Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway and Robert Duvall starred in Volker Schlöndorff’s film adaptation, which was released to mixed reviews in 1990.

Wiley was also recently cast in FXX’s “You’re the Worst” as the therapist of one of the main characters, and her “Orange” character has been a fan favorite since Netflix first began airing the series in 2013. “The Handmaid’s Tale” is expected to air next year.
