In another big buy at the Toronto International Film Festival, RLJ/Image Entertainment has acquired “The Cobbler,” starring Adam Sandler, Deadline reports. It’s not quite Chris Rock territory (the actor-director’s “Top Five” was purchased yesterday for over $12.5 million), but it’s not small change either.

Directed by Oscar-nominated Thomas McCarthy, whose previous films include “The Station Agent,” “Win Win” and “The Visitor,” “The Cobbler” focuses on a cobbler who steps into his father’s shoes (so to speak) and finds that an old sewing machine has magical powers. The comedy also stars Method Man, Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi.
