Concerned that the sequel could never live up to the original? This video might help.

Danny Boyle‘s long-gestasting and much-hyped “Trainspotting” sequel, “T2: Trainspotting,” is finally bound for the big screen, and early looks at the new film have made it clear that fans of the original film need not fear, thanks to the return of both Boyle and his entire cast. But if you’re still worried that no sequel could live up to the wild abandon of the 1996 modern classic, a new video that compares the original film with the latest trailer for the sequel offers up plenty of visual supporting evidence of, at the very least, the like-minded looks of both films.

Candice Drouet, who frequently cuts together snappy and smart video comparisons and essays — her works around Quentin Tarantino’s filmography are particularly solid — has put together the video, which clocks in at just 40 seconds but includes enough strong comparisons to tide over even the biggest “Trainspotting” fan until the newest film arrives.

Some things, it seems, just never change.
