“Blade Runner 2” is still over a year away and plot details for the film are being kept under wraps. What we do know is that the screenplay is written by Fancher and Michael Green and it will take place in Los Angeles, several decades after the original. Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard from Ridley Scott’s 1982 original and also includes Jared Leto, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi and Dave Bautista.

No doubt about it, Jóhannsson will add a new layer of tone, suspense and excitement to the highly-anticipated sequel.

In the meantime, the composer’s work can heard in the first trailer for “Arrival,” out Nov. 11, and James Marsh’s upcoming drama “The Mercy,” starring Rachel Weisz and Colin Firth.

“Blade Runner 2” is scheduled for October 6, 2017.
