SXSW Darling ‘The Heart Machine’ Gets October Release Date From Filmbuff

FilmBuff today announced an autumn theatrical and Video On Demand release of “The Heart Machine,” the full-length directorial debut from Zachary Wigon. Starring John Gallagher Jr. (“The Newsroom,” “Short Term 12”) and Kate Lyn Sheil (“House of Cards”, “You’re Next”), the thriller premiered earlier this year at South By Southwest to stellar reviews.

Tracking two parallel journeys that show how digital media complicates love, the film is a modern mystery and tells the story of Cody and Virginia, who begin a relationship online. As their affair progresses, skepticism and mistrust slowly enter the picture: Virginia might not actually live in Berlin as she contends, and may even live in the same city as Cody. Befuddled and obsessive, he ventures out to discover the truth.
