Variance Films has just released the new trailer for Jafar Panhani and Kambuzia Partovi’s new film “Closed Curtain” — the Iranian film is Panhani’s second feature after being banned from filmmaking for twenty years by the Islamic Revolutionary Court in December 2010. (The first was 2011’s “This Is Not a Film.”) “Closed Curtain” premiered at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival last year, winning the Silver Bear Award for Best Script, and also screened at the 37th Hong Kong International Film Festival.

The film tells the surreal story of an unnamed screenwriter, his dog Boy and two intruders at his reclusive beachfront property on the Caspian Sea. Eric Kohn wrote in our review that “In the struggle to tell a story, Panahi reveals the redemptive power of art. No longer issuing desperate pleas, he has turned to cinema for the sake of survival.” Check out the trailer below:
