Camden International Film Festival Announces 2014 Award Winners

The Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) has announced its full slate of 2014 award winners for the 10th edition of the Maine documentary festival, which ran September 24-28 with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fledgling Fund, the Unity Foundation and Vimeo.

The festival jury, consisting of Susan Margolin (President, Docurama), Banker White (filmmaker, “The Genius of Marian”) and Cecily Pingree (filmmaker, “Better the Farm”), awarded this year’s Harrell Award for Best Documentary Feature to Orlando Von Einsiedel’s Congo-set “Virunga,” which also served as CIFF’s opening night selection. J.P. Sniadecki’s “The Irony Ministry” was awarded the Special Jury Mention, a promising sign for the film just days before its New York Film Festival premiere later this week.

Camden Cartel Award: “The Last Days of Peter Bergmann,” Ciaran Cassidy

AJ+ Pitch at CIFF Recipients: “Emotional Report,” Jillian Schlesinger. “Hall of the Evening Star,” Sierra Pettengill. “Power Girls,” Jayisha Patel

2014 Points North Pitch Award and Modulus Funishing Fund: “The Reagan Years,” Pacho Velez and producer Sierra Pettengill
