Traverse City Film Festival Weekend Highlights

Looking for a film event this weekend? Check out the Traverse City Film Festival, which opened Tuesday night with Nigel Cole’s “Made in Dagenham” and Icíar Bollaín’s “Even the Rain.”

Highlights for this weekend begin with Friday night’s midnight screening of Evan Glodell’s zombie buddy drama “Bellflower.” On Saturday, check out Vera Farmiga’s directorial debut “Higher Ground,” SXSW favorite, “Conan O’Brian Can’t Stop” and a midnight show of the Norwegian mockumentary thriller “Troll Hunter.” On the festival’s closing day on Sunday, Traverse City will have a chance to see Werner Herzog’s “Cave of Forgotten Dreams,” Susanne Bier’s “In a Better World” and a rare screening of the 1911 horror film “L’Inferno,” Italy’s first feature-length film. The weekend also includes nightly outdoor screenings and music, film production seminars and student shorts programs.

Now in its seventh year, TCFF features 150 screenings of about 100 films.

The Traverse City Film Festival, co-founded by Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore, closes out Sunday night with a screening of Charlie Chaplin’s “Modern Times.”
