Watch: Greta Gerwig and Sarah Polley on the ‘Penetrating Loneliness’ of ‘Frances Ha’

In Vice’s latest installment of Conversations Inside The Criterion Collection, director Sarah Polley (“Away From Her,” “Stories We Tell”) sits down with actress Greta Gerwig to discuss her acclaimed 2013 comedy-drama, “Frances Ha.”

Gerwig, who wrote the titular character with director Noah Baumbach, is refreshingly honest in the 17-minute interview, bringing Polley into the writing process and sharing her thoughts on the loneliness of New York twentysomethings.

Polley, on the other hand, makes for an insightful interviewer, which doesn’t come as much surprise, given her equally impressive career as both an actor and a director. As Polley expresses her own observations about the film, the two ladies pull the viewer further into the delicate, mumblecore vulnerability of “Frances Ha.”
