Lionsgate‘s Summit Entertainment has released the trailer for “John Wick: Chapter 2,” the sequel to co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch’s action thriller starring Keanu Reeves as a retired hitman. The 2014 film was a critical and commercial success, grossing $78 million at the worldwide box office.

The sequel to “John Wick” has been in the works since 2015 and sees several of the actors from the first film return, including Ian McShane (“Deadwood”), John Leguizamo (“Carlito’s Way”) and Lance Reddick (“The Wire”), among others. Stahelski directed the sequel based on a script from Kolstad.

“With such tremendous fan and critical support for ‘John Wick,’ we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell,” Jason Constantine, President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions at Lionsgate, said in a statement last year. “[We] promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around.”

Reeves has two other projects currently in post-production, according to IMDb Pro: “To the Bone,” a drama about a young woman dealing with anorexia, and “Replicas,” a sci-fi-thriller directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (“Traitor”) about a scientist who becomes obsessed with bringing back his family members who died in a traffic accident.
