' Bigger Splash' Exclusive Images: See Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, And More Vacation On Italian Island

Director Luca Guadagnino has collaborated with actress Tilda Swinton many times, including his directorial debut “The Protagonists,” a documentary short called “Tilda Swinton: The Love Factory,” the 2010 film “I Am Love,” and finally Guadagnino’s latest film “A Bigger Splash.” Loosely inspired by Jacques Deray’s 1969 film “La Piscine,” “A Bigger Splash” follows Marianne Lane (Swinton), a famous Bowie-esque rock star, who’s on vacation with her photographer boyfriend Paul (Matthias Schoenaerts) on the remote Italian island of Pantelleria. There, they unexpectedly meet her former lover and record producer Harry Hawkes (Ralph Fiennes) and her daughter Penny (Dakota Fanning). Soon, Harry’s bohemian lifestyle and Penny’s sexual confidence creates sexual tension among the foursome, especially when Harry makes clear his intentions to win back Marianne.

Swinton has had a stellar acting run in the last few years, with plum roles in such diverse films as Jim Jarmusch’s “Only Lovers Left Alive,” Bong Joon-ho’s “Snowpiercer,” Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” and Judd Apatow’s “Trainwreck.” She will soon star in the upcoming Marvel film “Doctor Strange,” in which she’ll play The Ancient One, a casting decision that has been shrouded in controversy.

“A Bigger Splash” premiered at last year’s Venice International Film Festival where it competed for the Golden Bear. It’s set to be released on May 4. Check out the exclusive images below.
