Watch: Kevin Durand Revealed As Captor In Exclusive Clip from ‘The Captive’
Kevin Durand is stepping into a new, creepier role in Atom Egoyan’s thriller “The Captive.” Always ready to play the bad guy, Durand stars as the sinister kidnapper who holds a young girl captive for eight years.
Written and directed Egoyan and co-written by David Fraser, the film follows Matthew (Ryan Reynolds), a father who steps away from his car for just a moment and returns to discover that his young daughter Cassandra has disappeared. Per A24’s synopsis, “Her unsolved abduction destroys Matthew’s once-happy relationship with his wife, Tina (Mireille Enos), who, haunted by mementos of Cassandra that appear mysteriously at her work, suspects her husband of foul play. Years later, when detectives Nicole (Rosario Dawson) and Jeffrey (Scott Speedman) discover recent images of Cassandra online, Matthew risks everything to ensure his daughter’s safe return–and to save himself and Tina from the limbo of unrelenting despair.”
In this exclusive clip, we get a brief internal look of Cassandra’s prison and the shift in her “job description” now that she’s no longer a child. A white-haired, slow-moving Durand seems far more twisted than just a perverted kidnapper as the video surveillance of Cassandra’s family is any indication.
