While Peter Sattler’s directorial debut “Camp X-Ray” received mixed notices (our own Eric Kohn called the film “half-baked”) at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, critics all fell for Kristen Stewart‘s tough-as-nails turn, with Variety going so far as to compare her performance to Jodie Foster’s Oscar-winning one in “The Silence of the Lambs.” You can now get a peek at what all the hype is about via the first trailer for the film, released online today by distributor IFC Films.
In the drama, Stewart plays Cole, a newbie Guantanamo guard who develops a lasting bond with an outspoken detainee (played by “A Separation” star Payman Maadi). Watch the trailer below. “Camp X-Ray” opens October 17.
