Little by little, the fall movie season is coming together. This week, the New York Film Festival rounded out its higher-profile sections by announcing Julian Schnabel’s Vincent van Gough biopic “At Eternity’s Gate” as its closing night selection. Other anticipated movies are starting to make their presence known in the world, like Barry Jenkins’ “If Beale Street Could Talk,” which finally got a trailer. But a few movies remain in limbo — like “Boy Erased,” which hasn’t announced a premiere date yet — and the Toronto International Film Festival has yet to reveal an opening night film. Nevertheless, Oscar season is clearer than ever.

In this week’s episode of Screen Talk, Eric Kohn and Anne Thompson assess the latest buzz on fall movies while anticipating some of the announcements right around the corner. They also discuss the LAFF lineup, and “Christopher Robin,” which Disney releases this weekend.
