Watch: 'The X-Files' Revival Trailer Finds Fuel Mulder's 'Personal Obsession'

Mulder dragging Scully into affairs she wants nothing to do with isn’t exactly fresh ground for “The X-Files,” but the upcoming miniseries may push the duo’s dynamic to new, dangerous levels. In the trailer above, Joel McHale’s voice over introduces one massive conspiracy theory before bringing Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) to the forefront. Our returning hero is given ample time to explain his motivations in continuing his quest for the truth, but why our heroine, Scully (Gillian Anderson), is back for more alien abductions and monsters of the week remains unclear. Other than warning her former (and now current?) partner, “You are on dangerous ground here,” this is a pretty Mulder-heavy two-minutes.

In other words, we want more Scully.

And we’ll undoubtedly get it. As Indiewire TV Editor Liz Shannon Miller pointed out yesterday, we’re now just 116 days from the premiere of “The X-Files” miniseries; meaning the marketing barrage has just begun. Fox has been laying it on fairly thick with a marathon, various live appearances by its stars, multiple “first” footage peeks, photos and now three trailers in one day. Two connected entries aired Monday night on Fox and have been floating around the internet, but now the above spot provides a fuller picture of what’s to come. The network will stop at nothing to remind everyone just how big of a deal this is — and they’re right. So keep checking Indiewire for all the latest “X-Files” information. There will be plenty.

“The X-Files” revival/miniseries/new season debuts January 24, 2016.
