‘Goodfellas’ Re-Release Trailer: Martin Scorsese’s Gangster Classic Returns to the UK Next Month
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted wanted to watch “Goodfellas” on the big screen. That probably won’t be possible for me anytime soon, but it would be if I lived in the UK. That’s thanks to the British Film Institute, which is re-releasing Martin Scorsese‘s landmark gangster drama next month. Watch the film’s first new trailer in 25 years below.
In it, we’re reintroduced the main trio of Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro, whose highs and lows in cosa nostra are the basis of one of the best movies made in the 1990s — and one of the most famous Best Picture losers, thanks to “Dances with Wolves.” BFI is re-releasing the film in conjunction with Warner Brothers, their sixth collaboration to date (others include “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “The Shining” and “Doctor Zhivago.”
Scorsese’s latest film is the religious drama “Silence,” which is set to open in limited release on Christmas Day. “Goodfellas,” meanwhile, will return to UK theaters in a new 4K restoration on January 20.
