5 Best Bets on TV This Week: 'Brooklyn 99' and 'Kroll Show' Air Season Sign-Offs While 'Psych' Ends Good

Sure, Sunday tends to be overcrowded with high-end TV like “Game of Thrones,” “House of Lies,” “Shameless” and “The Walking Dead,” but what to watch the rest of the time? Every Monday, we bring you five noteworthy highlights from the other six days of the week.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Season Finale
Tuesday, March 25 at 9:30pm on Fox

The Golden Globe-winner for Best Comedy wraps up Tuesday night with a dramatic turn: Jake (Andy Samberg) gets fired. While the episode preview also plays up a climactic romantic face-off between Jake and Amy (Melissa Fumero), their relationship hasn’t been as intriguing as many other office attractions. It’s not even the juiciest duo in the precinct: Boyle and Rosa take that title. Still, learning what sort of hijinks finally cost Jake his job, and seeing Captain Holt — the delightfully deadpan Andre Braugher — come to his defense (I hope) are more than enough reason to tune in for the final episode of a promising first season.

Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge”: Series Premiere
Tuesday, March 25 at 10pm on SyFy

While the man who created the Muppets may be in the title, don’t expect to see anything as simple as Kermit the Frog on SyFy’s new reality show. The hour-long competition series will pit 10 aspiring creature designers against one another to see who can build the most creative characters. Whoever manages to win over the judges will be rewarded with a prize up to $100,000 and a contract to work at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Tune in to see what they come up with, and how these amazing artists construct their creatures.

“Kroll Show”: Season Finale
Tuesday, March 25 at 10:30pm on Comedy Central

Nick Kroll’s sketch comedy show has featured more notable guest stars in its first season than anything outside of “Portlandia.” Zach Galifianakis, Laura Dern, Will Forte, Jordan Peele, Hannibal Buress, Kathryn Hahn, Ed Helms, Adam Pally and Jenny Slate are just a few of the stars who have stopped by, and the season finale Tuesday night keeps the hot streak alive with Amy Poehler and Katy Perry. These are some seriously uhm-azing — and funny — folks.

“Psych”: Series Finale
Wednesday, March 26 at 9pm on USA

After eight seasons, Shawn and Gus are finally hanging up their detective hats. USA’s comedy about two best friends who solve mysteries with (fake) psychic powers grew a supportive fan base over the years, but the series finale on Wednesday hasn’t garnered the same fervor as other show’s ending their runs in 2014 (even shows that have overstayed their welcome, like, say, “How I Met Your Mother”). The network is airing an after show to reflect on the show’s vitality cleverly titled, “Psych After Pshow.”

“America’s Book of Secrets: Scientology”: Season Premiere
Saturday, March 29th at 10pm on H2

I know absolutely nothing about this show other than what’s found on the rather sparse show site, but I’m in for anything to do with Scientology after reading Lawrence Wright’s “Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, & the Prison of Belief” — assuming it’s not propaganda supporting the unsettling system. So tune in to learn truths the 21st century way — watching, not reading — regarding the “religion” made famous by Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and many more surprising Hollywood stars.
