For the second year in a year in a row, Cinema Eye has released their list of the year’s 15 most notable and significant faces of nonfiction film. “The Unforgettables” list honors the colorful subjects from some of the year’s most celebrated documentaries. Among this year’s names are Nick Cave from “20,000 Days of Earth,” Roger Ebert from “Life Itself” and Edward Snowden from “Citizenfour.”

“Filmmakers know that their relationships with their subjects are often the most important element of in the success of their films,” Cinema Eye Founding Director AJ Schnack said. “Many of the greatest documentaries ever made – from Grey Gardens to Crumb to American Movie – were built on compelling individuals who allowed a filmmaker to capture and observe their lives. With the Unforgettables we celebrate this relationship.”

The Cinema Eye Honors remain the only international documentary awards to recognize the achievements of the entire creative team. The awards were founded in 2007, with “The Unforgettables” honor added last year to commemorate the subjects at the heart of nonfiction films.
