Exclusive: Strand Releasing Acquires Abdellah Taï's 'Salvation Army'
Strand Releasing announced today the company has acquired all U.S. rights to Abdellah Taïa’s “Salvation Army.”
The film had it’s world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, the San Francisco International Film Festival and most recently Outfest 2014 in Los Angeles, where it won the Artistic Achievement Award.
“Salvation Army” is based on Taïa’s autobiography about growing up gay in Morocco, a country in which homosexuality is considered a crime. 
Marcus Hu of Strand Releasing called the film, “such a personal and beautiful translation from [Taïa’s] written work. We look forward to seeking more work from him and collaborating with him in the future.”
Strand plans a January 2015 theatrical release.
