HBO is following up on the success of “The Normal Heart” with a feature-length documentary on playwright and author Larry Kramer.

Per the film’s official synopsis, “Larry Kramer in Love and Anger’ provides an ‘in-depth, ‘warts and all’ portrait of one of the most important and controversial figures in contemporary gay America, a political firebrand who gave voice to the outrage and grief that inspired a generation of gay men and lesbians to fight for their lives.
”

In this exclusive clip from the film, Kramer explains how his anxiety compelled him to abandon his career in Hollywood in favor of returning to New York.

Directed by Jean Carlomusto, “Larry Kramer in Love and Anger” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday January 23 and will air on HBO in June 2015. For a sneak peak, check out the clip below.
