Cinely, the networking site for filmmakers of all sorts to get together to collaborate and show off their work is currently hosting a short film contest for short films made in the last 5 years.

The entries, which are listed on the contest’s page on Cinely.com, are all available to be viewed during the next few weeks, and some of those of which are not tied to prohibitive distribution deals are going to be streamed online after the contest ends.

The contest, which has already attracted Oscar nominees and Sudance alums, is open only to Cinely members and films that are between 5 and 30 minutes in length.  The entries so far can be viewed on the contest site

The second part, we can’t help you with; to become a member of Cinely, you usually need to be invited by the company or by another member.  For the remainder of the contest, Indiewire readers will be able to join Cinely by entering the following code: C_INDIE.

Once submissions are closed, former Academy President and producer Sid Ganis will judge the films and award one with a $1,000 first prize.

Cinely, which has gained some inroads in the filmmaking community, seeks to link filmmakers together to collaborate on production and, of course, post-production of video projects.  Competing in a professional social networking space with generic sites like LinkedIn and creative portfolio sites like Behance.

The site is also hosting its second contest to produce crowd-sourced sponsored content:  an assignment is given to the site’s members and then members create content in the hopes that the company will want to use their content for their campaign.  Currently on the site, digital distributor Quiver is sponsoring a contest to create a 5-15 second bumper to place before the films they distribute online.  The winning bumper will earn the filmmaker(s) behind the two winning bumpers a cool $1,500.

Submissions for the International Short Film contest end April 28, 2013.  The Quiver contest ends June 7, 2013.
