Mark Your Calendars, Folks: TIFF Declares September 5 Bill Murray Day

The Toronto International Film Festival has announced that September 5, the second day of this year’s fest, will be Bill Murray Day — a day dedicated to celebrating the legacy of beloved comedic actor Bill Murray.

TIFF will be showing three films Murray’s oeuvre — “Stripes,” “Groundhog Day” and “Ghostbusters” — in free screenings open to the public. Tickets will be made available same-day, beginning at 8am at the TIFF Bell Lightbox box office; the screenings are set to begin at 10am.

In conjunction with the screenings, the festival will host a contest for fans, where up to 50 fans who attend all three screenings can win a ticket to attend the world premiere of Murray’s latest film, “St. Vincent,” at TIFF.

Let’s get real for a second, though; if “Groundhog Day” taught us one thing, it was the that every single day is Bill Murray Day.
