Fourteen years ago, Michel Moore took a critical look at the presidency of George W. Bush in “Fahrenheit 9/11,” a breakthrough documentary that won the Palme d’Or at Cannes and become the highest grossing documentary ever released. The outspoken director is returning with a similar mission focused on Donald Trump this fall with the release of “Fahrenheit 11/9.”

As with a majority of Moore’s documentaries, “Fahrenheit 11/9” takes a provocative look at the 2016 United States presidential election, in which Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, and his first year as President of the United States. Moore links Trump’s political victory to many of the country’s biggest crises and issues, including the rise of white supremacists. The trailer below shows Moore spraying water from Flint, Michigan on a governor’s home and interviewing survivors of the Parkland shooting.

“Fahrenheit 9/11” will world premiere in the opening night slot of TIFF Docs at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. The film will be released in theaters on September 21, just ahead of the midterm elections. Watch the official trailer below.
