Last year Chris Lilley’s “Ja’mie: Private School Girl” captivated audiences with its riveting portrait of our formative years. Now, the Australian funnyman is bringing back another iconic character from his “Summer Heights High” days: Jonah, the rebellious breakdancer from the island country of Tonga.
“Jonah From Tonga,” a six-episode series that will air on HBO August 8th, follows Jonah, who was expelled from Summer Heights High and sent back to Tonga after he returns to Sydney. The season will follow his adventures at the Holy Cross School.
Lilley’s “Summer Heights High,” which looked at three different characters at Summer Heights High School, was a surprise U.S. hit.
