Watch: Gérard Depardieu Goes Downtown in NSFW Trailer for ‘Welcome to New York’
No stranger to his own questionable scandals, actor Gérard Depardieu may perfectly embody the type of skeevy, predatory French womanizer who comes to mind when one thinks of Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Now in the latest Not-Safe-For-Work UK trailer for Abel Ferrara’s “Welcome to New York,” we get a longer look at some of the debauchery.
In 2011, IMF chief Strauss-Kahn was confined to house arrest after allegedly sexually assaulting a maid at the Sofitel Hotel in New York City. Completely coincidentally, in Ferrara’s new film Depardieu plays a man named Mr. Devereaux who, according to the film’s description, “handles billions of dollars every day. A man who controls the economic fate of nations. A man driven by a frenzied and unbridled sexual hunger.”
A disclaimer before the start of the trailer reads: “This film is inspired by a court case, the public stages of which have been filmed, broadcast, reported and commented on throughout the media worldwide. Nonetheless, the characters and sequences depicting their private lives remain entirely fictional.” Just like those “Law & Order” episodes that only happen to “resemble” true events!
“Welcome to New York” is now available on VOD in France and opens in the UK August 8. No U.S. release has been set, but you can check out the NSFW trailer below:
