Following the recent news that Luca Guadagnino is directing a “Suspiria” remake starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Grace Moretz and Mia Goth, Amazon Studios has announced that Jessica Harper will be joining the project as well. Harper starred in the original film from 1977, which was directed by giallo master Dario Argento.
Harper played an American ballerina who goes to Germany to attend a prestigious dance academy and comes to learn that there’s more going on at her new school than pirouettes. Moretz will be taking over that role in this production, which marks her third remake of a horror film after “Let Me In” and “Carrie”; Swinton, meanwhile, also appeared in Guadagnino’s “A Bigger Splash” (as did Johnson) and “I Am Love.”
Amazon is handling both the financing and distribution of this new “Suspiria,” which just began shooting in Italy today.
