Anchor Bay Films has picked up two Midnighter films at SXSW this year: “The Aggression Scale” and “Girls Against Boys.”
While Anchor Bay acquired all North American rights for “Girls Against Boys,” the distributor is taking a more old-school approach with “The Aggression Scale.” It will receive a Blu-ray and DVD release May 29; neither VOD nor theatrical were included in the deal.
Directed by Steven C. Miller and written by Ben Powell, “The Aggression Scale” stars Ray Wise, Dana Ashbrook and Derek Mears and is the story of four hitmen and two teenagers who go to war over $500,000 in stolen cash.
“Girls Against Boys,” directed by Austin Chick, is a female revenge-killing thriller that opened the SXSW Midnighter’s section.
Anchor Bay also handled “A Horrible Way to Die,” which was produced by Travis Stevens, who also produced “The Aggression Scale.”
