‘True Lies’ TV Show in the Works With James Cameron as Executive Producer, Because There’s No Party Like a Reboot Party
Oh, you thought the trend of movies being adapted for the small screen had died down? Sorry to let you down, friend, but “True Lies” is being turned into a TV show, too. A new take on James Cameron‘s action flick — which he wrote, directed, and produced in between “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and “Titanic” — is headed to Fox.
“Arrow” executive producer Marc Guggenheim is on screenplay duty, with Cameron and McG onboard as an executive producers; if a pilot is ordered, the “Terminator Salvation” and “Charlie’s Angels” helmer will direct as well. Released in 1994 and based on the 1991 French comedy, “True Lies” starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a spy and Jamie Lee Curtis as his wife, who’s unaware of her husband’s actual career. Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Eliza Dushku, and Charlton Heston co-starred in the film, which earned some $379 in box-office receipts.
Cameron also executive-produced “Dark Angel” for Fox, which also brought “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” to the world. Both shows ran for two seasons.
