Project of the Day: 'How Pass the Time: Feature Film'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

How to Pass the Time: A Feature Film

Tweetable Logline:
A tragic, funny, and surreal tale of an isolated young man trying to make sense of his past, menacing dreams and fractured sense of self.

Elevator Pitch:
A lonely young man housesits for someone he doesn’t seem to know or remember. He receives anonymous love letters and investigates his confused memories and the oddities around him. As his isolation grows, his world becomes more dreamlike. This tragicomedy is searching for the meaningful in the absurd using surrealist humor and haunting imagery: a mysterious machine in the basement; ominous dreams of a loud sun and a man with a grocery bag of dead birds. Every frame and word exposes a delightfully neurotic mind, reminding us of the strange inner workings of our own.

Production Team:

Robert Frenay – Director / Producer / Editor
Kevin Sullivan – Writer / Music and Sound Composer / Actor
Jordan Black – Cinematographer

About the film: Working from Kevin’s unique and compelling script, we completed a thirty-minute short earlier this year. It was a true collaboration between friends: the three of us shared the duties of an entire set, and Kevin composed a beautiful score for the film. We were incredibly fortunate to get Tom Kenny (“Spongebob,” “Adventure Time”) to appear as a guest voice. The process really energized us to produce more and we can’t wait to expand the scope and go deeper into our story. Chapters Two and Three will bring the ideas of Chapter One to their exciting and unexpected conclusions.

Current Status: The first 30-minute chapter has been produced and edited. Our Staff-Picked Kickstarter is currently raising funds to film Chapters Two and Three.
