Following a visit from a cousin living in the United States, Cisco, frustrated by how he has been unable to unionize the Liberian rubber industry and ameliorate the cruel working conditions, becomes inspired to leave home for a better life in New York City. Upon his arrival in the states, Cisco settles into life within the city’s small, but tight-knit Liberian community, but an encounter with a former child soldier forces him to confront certain demons from his own past.
