Here’s How You Can Watch the Tokyo Olympics on Peacock for Free

It’s game time! After being pushed back a year due to the pandemic, the Summer Olympics have finally arrived and athletes from around the globe have gathered in Tokyo for a shot at the gold. The opening ceremony kicked off on Friday with tennis star Naomi Osaka, lighting the Olympic torch at Tokyo’s National Stadium. John Legend, Leslie Odom Jr., Uma Thurman, and Dwayne Johnson made appearances during the four-hour televised ceremony.
Want to watch the Olympics for free, but don’t have cable? You can catch the Games on Peacock: NBC Universal’s streaming service. The trove of Olympics content includes live coverage of some of the biggest events, which includes gymnastics, track & field, and the U.S Men’s Basketball team’s pursuit of a fourth gold medal. In addition to the Games, Peacock will feature original programming, daily live shows, Olympic channels, and replays and curated highlights of NBC’s Olympics coverage.

Peacock viewers get to access live coverage of Olympics events, along with expert commentary and analysis from former Olympians. Watch Simone Biles and Team USA compete in every single event, beginning on July 24. On July 25, Peacock will stream live coverage of Team USA Men’s Basketball games, starting with the U.S. vs. France. Other coverage includes the Women’s 100M race where the fastest women in the world will go for the gold on July 31 and August 1.
In addition to the Tokyo Olympics, the streaming service will release Olympics-centered Peacock Originals such as “The ’96 Effect,” “Michael Phelps: Medal Memories and More,” “The Greatest Race,” “In Deep with Ryan Lochte,” and “My Pursuit: Life, Legacy & Jordan Burroughs.” Peacock plans to roll out more Originals, like “Olympics Highlights” hosted by Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart, and “For Ball and Country” a documentary series offering an all-access look at the 2021 U.S. Men’s Basketball team, as well as archival videos of previous U.S. Olympics basketball teams, and never-before-seen footage. “The Sister of ’96,” an hourlong special, will debut the ’96 U.S. Women’s Olympics Soccer Team’s gold medal ceremony that was never fully televised, while “Golden” chronicles the stories of gymnasts such as Laurie Hernandez, Morgan Hurd, Sunisa Lee, Konnor McClain, and MyKayla Skinner.
Peacock also offers a huge library of exclusive shows and new movies including, “Girls5Eva,” and “The Boss Baby: Family Business.” You’ll also find “The Office” and “Modern Family” on Peacock, alongside other timeless TV series, reality shows, cartoons, classic movies, Spanish-language content, and tons more.
