“Master of None” is coming back for Season 2! Star and co-creator Aziz Ansari announced as much via Twitter February 11, but — as excited as we are to see more creative, insightful offerings from the whip-smart young writer — we’re hoping a new online video with Ansari and co-star Eric Wareheim isn’t a preview of what’s to come.
Titled “Big Bud, Lil Bud,” the four-minute parody video was posted by Eric Wareheim with the description: “a teaser for an unaired CBS pilot called ‘Big Bud Lil Bud.’ Was the original inspiration for ‘Master of None.'” Consisting of the series’ opening title sequence and a number of random clips from the episode, the video doesn’t seem to be directly referencing any specific shows or even issues. Instead, it broadly mocks a genre that’s fallen out of favor critically, in part because of the goofy storylines similar to what’s shown here.
Take a look at the video above. “Master of None” Season 1 is streaming now on Netflix, and Season 2 is expected in 2017. Here’s hoping it’s more in line with Season 1 than “Big Bud, Lil Bud.”
