With a throwback feel to classic teen and tween movies of the 80s and early 90s, “Ping Pong Summer” tells the story of a shy 13-year old kid who’s infatuated with hip hop and ping pong, and how he comes of age during a summer spent in Ocean City, Maryland.
While some of it feels familiar, the ping pong/hip-hop angle and the quirky characters could give it enough to keep the story fresh. Written and Directed by Michael Tully, the film features Susan Sarandon, Amy Sedaris, Lea Thompson, Judah Friedlander, and newcomer Marcello Conte as the protagonist.
“Ping Pong Summer” hits theaters and VOD on June 6th. Watch below.
