LAST WEEK’S PODCAST: ‘Jane The Virgin’ Star Gina Rodriguez on Advocacy and Supporting Women in This New Age — IndieWire’s TURN IT ON Podcast

Jeffrey Donovan and KaDee Strickland have become experts on the dark underbelly of neighborhood psychics. The stars of Hulu‘s “Shut Eye” spent plenty of time researching that world, injecting themselves into the practice in some cases. Both actors told IndieWire’s Turn It On that they were enthralled by the story as first written by Les Bohem, who explores a world rarely seen on television.

In “Shut Eye,” Donovan plays Charlie Haverford, a con man psychic whose worldview is rocked when he begins to have real visions. Or does he? Strickland is his no-nonsense wife Linda, who finds her husband to be weak, and is looking at ways to improve her family’s lot in life. Isabella Rossellini plays the matriarch of a powerful gypsy family that controls Charlie’s business — and you don’t want to cross her. Emmanuelle Chriqui (“Entourage”) and Angus Sampson (“Fargo”) also star.

All 10 episodes of “Shut Eye” Season 1 are now streaming on Hulu.
