Kids in the Hall

Ours is truly an age of reboots and returns, so it’s pleasantly unsurprising to learn that “Kids in the Hall” may come back next. That’s according to troupe member Kevin McDonald, who says that Canada’s finest sketch-comedy group has been discussing a return with Lorne Michaels, who was responsible for bringing them to TV in the first place.

“You’re the first guy to know this,” McDonald said during an interview with Florida’s News Press. “Last night, before I got on the plane, we got a ‘Kids in the Hall’ group message to all of us. Lorne Michaels wants us to do what ‘Mr. Show’ did, and do like six episodes of sketches for something like Netflix.” Six episodes might not be enough for all of the show’s best characters — the Eradicator, anyone? — to return, but we’ll take it.

“It’s so at the beginning, we’re not able to even get conference calls together. There’s always one or two of us that are kind of busy. And because we are who we are, there’s always one of us against it,” continued McDonald. “But I think, right now, there’s no one against it.”

Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson were the other four “Kids,” and the original series ran for five hilarious seasons.
