Louis C.K. hosted “Saturday Night Live” this past Saturday and of course — not maybe — it was hilarious. Here are his best four moments.

1. Opening Monologue

Louis C.K. has a simple, casual way of delving into the core of what it means to be human. He provides a kind of makeup mirror — the ones that magnify one’s face to an uncomfortable degree — that lets us examine what condition our condition is in. Physical comedy will never stop making people laugh when its done right. Beck Bennet does it right. The man has a stunning and beautiful propensity for becoming a baby. How much time did he spend alone, practicing his baby body moves in front of a mirror? Food for thought. 

The unsung hero of this scene is Louis C.K. It’s a miracle that he didn’t break. As you’ll see, keeping a straight face while watching this happen is a herculean feat of unimaginable strength.

As a white person watching “Black Jeopardy,” I felt a lot like Louis C.K’s character in the scene. Awkward, vaguely aware of hardening stereotypes, confused about how to participate, and unsure if I had permission to laugh. Sometimes it’s a good thing to become self-conscious about who you are.
